Bev was born in northern Minnesota, has lived
in Minnesota her entire life, and in the
area for over 30 years. Bev and her husband
Bob have two grown children, both of whom
graduated from the University of Minnesota,
and four grandchildren. She and her husband Bob own and operate a small business in White Bear Lake. Prior to being elected State Representative in 2004, Bev served on Little Canada's City Council for 24 years, and was part of the team that lowered Little Canada's tax rate from one of the highest in the area in the early 1980's to 7th lowest of 19 Ramsey County jurisdictions in 2001. During this time the City moved from no city-owned parkland to 100+ acres of parks, with the help of volunteer efforts from the local community. Scalze is past president of Ramsey County League of Local Governments, coordinator of senior task forces, transit task force member, was a Suburban Area Chamber of Commerce trustee, PTSA Vice President, parks and recreation associations member, a Little Canada Historical Society charter member, and started a multi-housing coalition in her city. Scalze previously served on the Attorney General's Task Forces on Pharmaceuticals, Medicare, and Family Health, as well as the task force for Information Technology as related to consumer privacy. |
